Post-secondary students beginning or returning to school this fall are reminded they can get access to free 24-hour mental-health counselling and referral services when needed.

Here2Talk, which was launched in April, is one of many health services allowing students access chat sessions with trained counsellors through its website, phone app or phone line.

Other services include virtual mental-health support through the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions’ website.

The services are available for all B.C. post-secondary students whether they are studying at home or in-person classrooms.

“We know that students beginning or returning to their post-secondary studies this fall may be feeling apprehensive about many things – including all the normal concerns like course work, relationships, employment on top of navigating the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Melanie Mark, B.C. Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training.

“I want anyone who feels alone or isolated or overwhelmed to know that it is OK to not be OK and that there is help for you when you need it 24/7.”

Students can access Here2Talk by going to here2talk.ca or calling 604-642-5212 to speak to a counsellorl.
