On this day:
In 1559, the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, who was known as “The Virgin Queen”, Elizabeth I was crowned Queen of England at the age of 25. She was born in 1533 and died in 1603. Anne, the second wife of the king, was executed when Elizabeth was two years old.

In 1969, Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl was born in Ohio.

In 1970, Diana Ross and the Supremes performed their last concert together in Las Vegas.

In 2005, in the first-ever outer solar system landing, the European Huygens space probe landed on Titan, one of Saturn's moons.
