Malaspina Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Duck Lake Road on November 23.
Fire department chief Dave Keiver said the call came in early in the morning and was outside of the department’s fire protection area. He said the ministry of forests allowed the fire department to action the blaze and it has since been turned back over to them. Keiver said the structure was a bunch of trailers put together with a roof overtop.
Keiver said the fire department was able to respond with a full crew. The first truck was on scene at about 7:25 am.
He said the fire department was able to extinguish the fire and it is now in the hands of the forestry service and RCMP.
Malaspina Volunteer Fire Department will not be taking part in any investigation because the fire is not in its jurisdiction.
