MP leads discussion against pipeline

Risk reason for raising awareness

Stopping Enbridge’s Northern Gateway Pipeline is the reason Nathan Cullen, New Democratic Party member of Parliament for Skeena-Bulkley Valley, will be in Powell River on Wednesday, March 19.

Cullen has been outspoken about the negative effects of this project and aims to raise concern in all communities who are in the path of the pipeline or recognize the risks of a tanker spill. He carries a message about how to stop the pipeline from being approved by the federal government.

If the project proceeds, Cullen said it will increase the export of diluted bitumen from Alberta’s tar sands in exponential amounts and will see tankers navigating through treacherous waters from Kitimat, through the Great Bear Rainforest, putting BC’s coast at risk from a disastrous oil spill.

Cullen invites everyone to a lively discussion at 7 pm at Town Centre Hotel ballroom. The event is free and open to everyone. For more information, readers can email CaroleAnn Leishman [email protected].
