Myrtle Pond zoning

Board prepares for public hearing

Powell River Regional District directors passed the first two readings of the Myrtle Pond zoning bylaw at the March regional board meeting.

In draft form since 2008, the zoning bylaw covers parcels that are on the Myrtle Pond water system, the only one owned by the regional district. It regulates both density and land use and its intent is to ensure that the Myrtle Pond water system will have sufficient capacity to accommodate future land uses within the Myrtle Pond water service area. There are over 80 parcels in the service area.

The zoning bylaw, which was first presented to property owners within the Myrtle Pond service area in April 2009, reflects the existing land uses of all properties in the service area.

The regional board also passed a motion delegating Stan Gisborne, Electoral Area B director, to hold a public hearing for the zoning bylaw.
