Powell River RCMP reported the following for November 22 to 28, 2018.

November 22; Selkirk Avenue, 3900 block
At approximately 2:43 pm, police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver near Westview Elementary School. The vehicle was located and the driver showed significant signs of impairment. After a brief confrontation with police, the 65-year-old Powell River male was detained for an impaired investigation and taken back to the office to provide a breath sample. The sample was over the legal limit and the male has been charged with impaired driving, assaulting a police officer and uttering threats. He is currently being held in custody until he appears in court.
November 24; Marine Avenue
At approximately 2:23 am, a police vehicle was struck by a car while it was parked in a parking stall along Marine Avenue. While speaking to police the driver attempted to conceal two crack pipes under her leg. The 50-year-old Powell River female driver was arrested, and a subsequent search was made of the vehicle. A small amount of a substance believed to be cocaine was located. The female was released on a promise to appear and is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance.
November 26; Nass Street, 5800 block
At approximately 10:28 am, police responded to a report of a mail theft. A package that had been delivered to a residence earlier in the day was stolen before the owner was able to collect it. Checks were made with neighbours and any other potential witnesses, but all checks were negative.

Winter CounterAttack Campaign
Powell River RCMP will be starting the Winter CounterAttack Campaign to correspond with National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, which takes place on December 1. Police are reminding the public that CounterAttack road checks are on now, and if holiday celebrations involve drinking, to plan ahead for a safe ride home.
