Powell River RCMP reported the following for September 19 to 24, 2019.

September 19; Joyce Avenue, 3800 block
At approximately 3:21 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence. Sometime between September 12 and 16, the residence was entered while the owner was out of town. A laptop computer and an 18-karat gold necklace valued at $1,800 were stolen from inside. There was also damage done to the residence when the break-in occurred.

September 19; Joyce Avenue, 4300 block
At approximately 8:51 pm, police were stopped at a residence to serve a court document. While approaching the house, police walked by a vehicle parked nearby and observed two occupants inside. Police observed the male in the driver’s seat was smoking crack cocaine inside the vehicle. The 52-year-old male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and impaired care and control of a vehicle. The male was taken to the detachment, where a drug recognition exam was completed and he performed poorly.

September 19 to 24; Powell River
Between September 19 and 24, police responded to 17 reports of thefts from vehicles occurring throughout the city and district. Tools, cash and other items of value were taken from vehicles. Powell River RCMP are investigating these thefts to find those responsible, but would like to remind the public to lock their vehicles at night and to remove any items of value from their vehicles.
