Powell River RCMP reported the following for June 4 to 10, 2020.

June 4; Tomkinson Road
At approximately 8:39 pm, police responded to a report of an uninsured vehicle on Tomkinson Road north of Powell River. Members attended and located the vehicle on the road to Sliammon Lake. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled, smashing a tree and damaging his vehicle in the process. The driver then turned around and rammed the police vehicle, leaving it inoperable. A short foot pursuit ensued and the 36-year-old male driver was arrested. He is currently facing charges of dangerous driving, impaired driving, driving while prohibited, flight from police, as well as a number of Motor Vehicle Act offences.

June 5; Joyce Avenue
At approximately 5 am, police were conducting patrols and located a male attempting to steal a bike from Canadian Tire. The 34-year-old male was attempting to push the bike over the fence to the parking lot when he was stopped by police. The male was arrested for theft under $5,000. While searching his backpack, police located a number of break-in tools. The male is facing multiple charges and will be appearing in court in September.

June 7
Joyce Avenue
At approximately 11:19 pm, police responded to a request for assistance from Powell River Fire Rescue at the intersection of Joyce Avenue and Complex Way. One of the COVID-19 social distancing signs had been set on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the sign sustained damage as a result.
