Powell River RCMP reported the following for July 9 to 15, 2020.

Total calls for service: 103
Thefts: 5
Assaults: 3
Impaired driving: 4
Mischief: 6
Break and enter: 2

July 9; Marine Avenue, 4600 block
At approximately 10:02 am, police responded to a break and enter at a business. Between July 2 and 5, someone entered the building through a basement window. A bin of DVDs and a box of laptops valued in excess of $1,000 was stolen from inside.

July 9; Hillcrest Avenue, 6400 block
At approximately 6:20 pm, police responded to a report of a stolen bike. Sometime during the previous few days, a blue Kona men’s 18-speed mountain bike with the word “SCRAP” written on the frame was stolen. The bike is valued at approximately $600.

July 12; Marine and Arbutus avenues
At approximately 10:44 pm, police were conducting patrols in Townsite, when a vehicle was observed failing to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle was stopped on Arbutus Avenue. While speaking with the 60-year-old male driving the vehicle, police detected a strong odour of liquor on his breath. The driver provided a breath sample on the approved screening device that registered a “warn.”  As a result, the driver was issued a seven-day driving prohibition under the Motor Vehicle Act.
