Powell River RCMP reported the following for August 20 to 26, 2020.

Break and enter: 1

August 24; Highway 101, south
At approximately 4:23 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter at the Seaside Villa Motel. Sometime between 5:45 am and 4 pm, someone entered a room through an open window and stole a number of items, including clothing, an iPod and a Tesla charger. Value of the stolen items was approximately $1,400.

August 21; Manson Avenue, 5500 block
At approximately 11:23 pm, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision. Police attended and located a grey Chevrolet that had driven off the roadway, through some hedges and stopped in a yard. Police spoke to the 20-year-old male driver, who had a strong odour of liquor on his breath. Police obtained a breath sample, which registered a fail on the approved screening device. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days under the Motor Vehicle Act.

August 20; Maple Avenue and Elm Street
At approximately 1:26 am, police responded to a mischief complaint. A vehicle described as a blue truck without a canopy was driving around on Maple Avenue and Elm Street in Townsite, smashing into street signs and driving on the sidewalk. Police immediately attended and made extensive patrols in the area, but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. Police determined that 12 street signs and a grassy area at Brooks Secondary School were damaged. The damage is believed to be well in excess of $5,000. Police are looking for a blue truck without a canopy that would have extensive damage to the front end.
