August 27; McGuiness Road
At approximately 8:30 am, police responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle in the 2300 block of McGuiness Road. Between 11 pm on August 26 and 7 am on August 27, a vehicle parked at that location was entered and a Garmin GPS and pair of prescription sunglasses were taken from inside. Another vehicle at that location was also entered, but nothing was taken. Value of the stolen items is believed to be in excess of $500.
August 27; Joyce Avenue
At approximately 7:10 pm, police were conducting patrols when a vehicle driven by a known prohibited driver was observed. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the 32-year-old male driver, who showed signs of impairment, so a field sobriety test was completed. The male did poorly on the test and, as a result, a blood sample was obtained. This sample will be sent to the lab to determine what, if any, controlled substances the man had ingested. The male is to appear in court on December 8 on charges of prohibited driving and possible impaired driving charges.
NOTICE:
In the past few weeks, police have received several complaints of driver’s speeding through flagged work zones. RCMP remind drivers to slow down and follow flaggers’ directions while driving through a work zone. As a result of the complaints, police will be conducting enforcement around these zones. Fines for speeding in a work zone range from $196 to $483.
