July 31; Highway 101, south
At approximately 3:34 pm, police responded to a report of an impaired driver northbound on Highway 101 near the Eagle River bridge. The vehicle was reported to have been driving in the wrong lane.

Police attended and located the vehicle near Phillips Road and spoke to the driver, a 31-year-old male from Coldstream, BC, who was in Powell River attending a music festival.

Police detected a strong odour of liquor while speaking to the driver. As a result, the breath demand was read and the driver provided a breath sample which registered a fail on an approved screening device. He was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment under provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.
