December 11; Highway 101, south
At approximately 9:58 am, police responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision near Lang Bay Road. A vehicle heading north on Highway 101 collided with a vehicle turning onto the highway from Lang Bay Road. One of the drivers was transported to Powell River General Hospital by paramedics for assessment. Neither driver sustained serious injuries, but there was extensive damage to both vehicles.

December 13; Duncan Street
At approximately 1:20 am, police were making patrols on Duncan Street when they observed a vehicle failing to signal while making a right turn. The vehicle was stopped on Joyce Avenue and police spoke to the driver, an 18-year-old female from Powell River. The driver showed signs of impairment. Breath samples were obtained, which both registered fail on the approved screening devices. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

RCMP has seen an increase in the number of drug and alcohol impaired driving investigations so far this month. Police would like to remind the public that as the holiday season gets closer, more alcohol and drug impaired driving enforcement will be conducted to keep the roads safer for everyone.
