At approximately 10:40 am, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at a construction site. A worker had his headphones taken, then was hit with a shovel. The suspect had left the scene prior to police arrival. Approximately 10 minutes later, the same suspect entered a business in the 6700 block of Wharf Street. After having a dispute about a purchased item the suspect left the store but returned moments later and bear-sprayed the employees. Police located the suspect at the ferry terminal and took him into custody. A 42-year-old man from Van Anda has been charged with robbery, several counts of assault with a weapon, uttering threats and failing to comply with a probation order. He remains in custody.

Just before noon, a person was standing in line at a local store waiting to buy several gift cards. A good Samaritan recognized this may have been a scam and brought the person to the police station. After speaking to an officer it was learned that the lady received a call from a person stating they were from her bank and explained there had been some suspicious transactions with her account. The caller instructed the person to purchase gift cards. Luckily, the good Samaritan was there so no cards were purchased. Police would like to remind everyone that banks do not do business like this, so anyone who receives a similar call should go to their bank to confirm the information.

June 26; Joyce Avenue, 4700 block
Just after 1 am, police received a call of a break and enter in progress at a business. As officers arrived on scene, the female suspect was observed crawling around inside trying to avoid detection. Police gained entry into the building and arrested the 28 year old without incident. The female was under the influence of drugs and taken to the hospital prior to being lodged in cells. The investigation is continuing.

At approximately 11:30 pm an officer was on patrol when he observed a vehicle driving erratically.
