Police Patrol: Powell River RCMP report

Incidents and occurrences in the past week include two break and enters, and a parking lot collision

Powell River RCMP reported the following for October 7 to 13, 2021.

Total calls for service: 117
Thefts: 15 
Assaults: 4
Impaired driving: 3
Mischief: 4
Break and enter: 6

October 8; Duncan Street, 7100 block
At approximately 1:16 pm, RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at a business. Sometime between 5:30 pm and 8 am, someone entered the business and stole a six-inch Makita grinder, a Honda battery charger and a Carstech battery charger. Value of the items stolen is in excess of $300.

October 8; Quesnel Street, 7000 block
At approximately 3:25 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter. Sometime during the previous night, someone entered the residence and stole a chrome ship bell, a grinder and five fishing flashers. Value of the stolen items is approximately $375.

October 7; Alberni Street, 7000 block
At approximately 12:59 pm, RCMP responded to a report of a collision in the parking lot of a business. On scene, police spoke to witnesses who identified the drivers. While speaking to one of the drivers, a 39-year-old female from Powell River, police detected signs of impairment by drugs. A standardized field sobriety test was completed on the driver and she performed poorly. The driver was then transported to the Powell River detachment and a drug recognition exam was completed. She was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition, and may face impaired driving charges in the future.
