Powell River RCMP reported the following for January 6 to 12, 2022.

Thefts: 1

Break and enter: 1
Assaults: 2

January 7; Bowness Avenue, 4900 block
At approximately 1:50 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter. Sometime during the previous night, someone entered a garage through a window at that location and stole a number of items from inside. The items stolen include CDs, shoes and some records.

January 9; Sutherland Avenue
At approximately 7:52 pm, RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover collision on Sutherland Avenue near Skeena Street. Police attended and located the driver and a passenger, who were still on scene. Police spoke to the driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old male from Powell River, who showed signs of impairment. A breath sample was obtained roadside, which registered a fail. After being treated for minor injuries at Powell River General Hospital, the driver was then taken back to the Powell River RCMP detachment, where two further breath tests were completed. As a result of the tests, the driver is facing impaired driving charges, and will be appearing in court at a later date.
