Powell River RCMP reported the following for May 4 to 10, 2022.

Break and enter: 1
Thefts: 5

May 4; Selkirk Avenue, 3900 block
At 2:30 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence. The investigation determined that entry was gained by breaking the glass in the front door. Once inside the unknown suspect(s) made off with a backpack, a portable heater, a Dewalt cordless drill and a Dakota hoodie.

A male was seen leaving the residence earlier in the morning at about 9:30 am but no further description was available. Anyone with information related to the theft is asked to call Powell River RCMP at 604.485.6255. RCMP file number is 2022-1959.

May 8; Willingdon Avenue
At 8:55 pm, Powell River RCMP received a complaint from Westview Ferry Terminal of an intoxicated male refusing to leave the waiting room. When police arrived, they located a male passed out in a chair. When officers woke him up the male had slurred speech and appeared confused. He had a strong odour of liquor on his breath and had an open can of beer beside him.

The 48-year-old from Comox was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was returned to the detachment, placed in a cell to sober up and released the next morning.
