MAKING PREPARATIONS: School District 47 has announced changes in the administrative structure of the Partners in Education program in preparation for becoming part of the provincial online learning school scheme.

Following the announcement that Powell River Board of Education (School District 47) was selected by BC Ministry of Education and Child Care to become a provincial online learning school (POLS), the district has made changes to its Partners in Education (PIE) administrative team structure.

According to a media release from the school district, effective this month, Stephanie Hall will become the overall principal of PIE, responsible to the ministry and provincial mandate, with Allan Saugstad and Don Fairbairn supporting as regional principals at Vancouver Island/Sunshine Coast, Bowen Island and Lower Mainland campuses. This move supports the preparation required to align operations and follow the ministry’s procedures and policies for implementation of POLS in September 2023, the release stated.

“We are extremely proud to be chosen as one of the provincial online learning schools and we take our preparation for the upcoming change very seriously,” stated board of education superintendent Jay Yule. “Stephanie, Don and Allan were instrumental in us getting to this point and we want to ensure their continued success. The structure change will allow the team to effectively prepare for the transition next September, while also continuing to deliver a stellar program this upcoming school year.”
