Powell River Board of Education posts notice regarding motor vehicle accident involving graduates

Powell River Board of Education posted a notice on its website on June 27, which was sent to Brooks Secondary School parents and guardians from principal Bill Rounis regarding a motor vehicle accident on the weekend. 

Four students from the school community (two graduates and two recent graduates) were involved in the accident, and all four sustained injuries, according to the notice.

“Two of the youth sustained serious injuries; however, they are in stable condition and are expected to recover,” the notice stated. “Our thoughts go out to the families and youth involved.”

Extra support will be available to students in attendance for the formal graduation who require additional support, the notice stated.

“It is important that we identify students who may need extra support, and provide those supports when necessary. There will be extra counselling supports available at the school on Monday.”
