On May 3, Powell River RCMP responded to a report that a man had assaulted and threatened to hit a driver with a baseball bat.

The driver reported that he had broken down on Marine Avenue and called his son to come help him get the car started. He had backed into a driveway off Marine to get out of the way and was having trouble moving forward.

While the driver was attempting to drive the vehicle out of the driveway, the homeowner allegedly ran out of the house with a baseball bat, attempted to pull the driver from the vehicle and threatened to hit him with the bat.

The man was arrested for assault with a weapon and uttering threats and released to appear in provincial court.
