At approximately 7:30 pm on July 23, a Powell River RCMP officer was travelling behind a vehicle on Duncan Street near Fernwood Avenue when it suddenly pulled over.

Police observed a lone occupant in the driver’s seat and spoke to the a 48-year-old female from Halfmoon Bay, who advised that she had pulled over because her cat had entered the cab and she wanted to get it out.

Police queried the licence plate and found the owner of the vehicle was prohibited from driving and again spoke to the driver, who provided a fake name. After taking a photo and confirming with Sunshine Coast RCMP, police determined the driver was in fact the owner of the vehicle who was prohibited from driving.

She was issued a five-month driving prohibition, a seven-day vehicle impound and will be appearing in court for driving while prohibited.
