August 19; Grief Point
At approximately 9:33 pm on August 19, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a collision in the 7000 block of Westminster Street, where a vehicle had backed into a parked vehicle and the driver was believed to be impaired.

Police attended and located the suspect vehicle, which was being driven by a 34-year-old male from Powell River.

Police spoke to the driver, who showed signs of impairment. He was advised by police that he would need to provide a sample on an approved screening device.

The male refused to provide a sample, which carries the same penalty as providing a sample that registers a fail, resulting in a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for not having insurance on his vehicle.
