CHANGES ORDER: qathet Regional District’s emergency operations centre has lifted the evacuation alert for a wildfire in the Toba River area.

An evacuation alert has been lifted by qathet Regional District’s (qRD) emergency operations centre (EOC) for a wildfire burning near the privately-operated Toba Montrose hydroelectric facility located on the Toba River.

“This wildfire has been identified by the BC Wildfire Service as being held,” stated qathet Regional District manager of emergency services Ryan Thoms in a media release.

“This means that the fire has been assessed as not likely to spread beyond predetermined boundaries under current conditions. Therefore, we have been advised to lift the evacuation alert. The qRD will be shutting down its EOC effective immediately.
