No objection
At the qathet Regional District (qRD) planning committee meeting on February 9, the committee recommended to the regional board that qRD has no objection to the application for a 30-year crown licence of occupation for aquaculture purposes for a site described as crown foreshore or land covered by water, being part of the bed of McRae Cove, containing 0.18 hectares in Scotch Fir Point in Electoral Area C.

The application is for an oyster aquaculture site. According to a staff report, the applicant proposes an intertidal beach operation to cultivate Pacific oysters.

Recommends agreement
The committee is recommending the regional board enter into a service provider agreement with Texada Island Library dated March 1, 2023, for an associate member liability insurance agreement. The annual cost is projected to be $250.

Library expenses
At the February 9 finance committee meeting, the committee recommended the regional board include a total contribution of $1,667 to the Texada Island Library to cover the remainder of the library’s expenses. The library had received $2,823 in funds in 2022 and has estimated expenses of $4,490 in 2023, leaving the difference of $1,667.
