Chooses team
qathet Regional District has voted to single-source the Tetra Tech engineering team for the Marine Avenue resource-recovery centre development stage B.
At the Thursday, October 24, meeting of the regional board, directors also voted that Tetra Tech be retained for the quoted price of $133,730.80, and that the board approve the addition of $33,000 to the stage-B fee proposal budget as contingency.
At the meeting, Electoral Area E director Andrew Fall said the reason for the single-sourcing is because Tetra Tech has been involved with the project since the early stages and this stage is a continuation of the work that has been done, so it makes financial and operational sense to proceed with Tetra Tech.
According to a staff report, Tetra Tech has been involved in the regional district’s recent solid waste management plan process and the key recommendation within it to close the Marine Avenue landfill, and clean up the site and build a resource-recovery centre, including a waste-transfer building.
The staff report further states that Tetra Tech provided leadership in the initial Marine Avenue resource-recovery centre project approvals and design brief work plan.
Provides assistance
The regional board has approved financial assistance of $1,000 toward the hehewšin signs unveiling ceremony to take place on November 17, 2019. The board also directed staff to release the funds after receipt of a completed application for financial assistance from hehewšin.
The funds will come from electoral area A, B, C and E grant-in-aid contributions.
Adopts bylaw
The regional board adopted the Northside Fire Protection temporary borrowing bylaw. According to the bylaw, the board is authorized and empowered to borrow upon its credit from the Municipal Finance Authority an amount not to exceed the sum of $753,153. The borrowing is for the construction of the Lund Fire Hall.
