Steps are being taken to comply with recommendations
qrd

The following is a media release dated March 18, 2020, from the qathet Regional District regarding its operations during the COVID-19 pandemic:

qathet Regional District (qRD) would like to inform our residents of the steps we are taking to ensure continued operations within the qRD amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Actions are being taken that are consistent with recommendations and directives from the provincial health officer (PHO), the ministry of health (ministry), and Health Emergency Management BC (HEMBC). While the risk for transmission of COVID-19 remains low within the region, the qRD will be taking the following precautionary measures:

  • To promote social distancing, the qRD main office and maintenance facility will be closed to the public effective immediately. Staff will continue to engage with the public through telephone and email communications. Please contact the qRD main office at 604.485.2260, or email [email protected]. Please contact the maintenance facility at 604.487.1380, or email [email protected].

  • The qRD has worked diligently with technology to enable those employees with computer-related job functions to have the option to work remotely from home.

  • Employees who contribute to the field operations of our properties and services will work within the recommended social distancing parameters while in the field. We ask the public to respect the distances recommended/directed by the PHO and keep their distance from workers.

  • The qathet Regional Board will continue to meet. Live and archived webcasts of the meetings are available for viewing through qathet.ca.

  • As directed by the PHO, any events or activities booked, reserved or rented in or on qRD managed facilities that bring more than 50 people closely together will be cancelled or postponed. The qRD will reach out to organizations leasing qRD properties asking each organization to follow suit and consider enacting PHO, ministry or HEMBC recommendations or directives as well.

  • The qRD will continue to monitor the situation and adjust its services as recommended or directed by the PHO, ministry or HEMBC.

The qRD will update as more information becomes available. The most recent information on COVID-19 is available through the Public Health Agency of Canada and BC Centre for Disease Control. We also encourage you to refer to the PHO daily updates. The qRD is not the subject matter expert and encourages the public to dial 811 to seek specific health related advice or answer questions of concern, or visit Health Link BC https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/.
