June skies
Despite a few days of what seemed like torrential rainfall early in the month, June shaped up to be a pretty dry month, said Powell River weather observer John Ede.
Ede said the average rainfall recorded for June over the past 30 years is 74.4 millimetres, but last month only 25.6 millimetres fell.
His observations were in line with Environment Canada’s prediction of a three-month dry-weather trend.
Powell River received 291 hours of sunshine last month, well over the average of 220 hours.
Despite the dry weather, the region did not break any temperature records. The warmest day of the month was Thursday, June 26, when the mercury reached 24.6° Celsius in Powell River.
The mean temperature for the month was 14.9°, slightly warmer that the average at 14.6°.
