Radiology review
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has announced it is reviewing more than 800 diagnostic imaging reports prepared by a locum radiologist at Powell River General Hospital in October 2013.
According to a media release, the health authority is undertaking an assessment of computerized tomography scans, X-rays, mammograms and ultrasounds taken between October 7 and 31, 2013, as a precautionary measure.
The release further stated that until the review is complete, it is unknown if patients have any cause for concern, though it is unlikely any conditions not already identified will be found.
All those whose records are reviewed will be contacted, regardless of whether or not anything significant is found, according to the release.
Reports from outside the timeframe, or by other radiologists, are not part of the review. The release also states that VCH is working to finish the review as soon as possible.
Green leader visits
Powell River Chamber of Commerce is presenting a meet and greet with BC Green Party leader Andrew Weaver on Friday, May 5, from 6:30-8 pm at Powell River Town Centre Hotel.
Weaver’s visit comes after an appearance from BC Liberal Party leader Christy Clark in late January, and just a few days before British Columbians cast their votes in the provincial election.
New Democratic Party leader John Horgan visited Powell River in October of last year.
