Concession shut down

Environmental health inspectors from Vancouver Coastal Health have shut down the concession at Powell River Recreation Complex for unsanitary conditions and improper dishwashing.

The concession, run by Cleve Hamilton, received four critical and two non-critical violations on Thursday, April 10. Inspectors found cutting boards and cheese graters left on the counter for several days with food residue on them, counters, sinks and equipment left uncleaned and dirty wash clothes were found in a container on the floor.

The concession had been closed since the spring 2012 before Hamilton opened Planet Cleve in the fall 2013. The business began as a food cart before being located indoors.

The inspector’s report indicated that a follow-up inspection would be required.

Anniversary preparations

Soccer enthusiasts should save space in their September calendar for a weekend of celebration to mark Powell River Villa’s 40th anniversary.

A committee is being formed at a meeting 7 pm tonight, Wednesday, April 23, at the soccer centre at Timberlane Barracks.

Anyone interested in helping on the committee can contact Bob Bogoslowski 604.485.9640 or Iain Livingstone 604.485.9173, or just show up at the meeting tonight and join in.
