Leadership contender
One of the eight candidates running for leadership of the federal New Democratic Party (NDP) is in Powell River this week.
Peggy Nash, MP for Parkdale-High Park, will be in the Georgia Room at Town Centre Hotel from 1:30 to 3 pm on Friday, February 3.
Appointed by former NDP leader Jack Layton as finance critic, Nash has placed the economy at the heart of her leadership campaign and will discuss the need for new economic models.
MLA Nicholas Simons, Powell River-Sunshine Coast, will begin the event with introductions. The event is open to everyone.
Setting it Straight
An article from the January 11 issue of the Peak had an incorrect date. Dr. Mansukhlal Mavji (Charlie) Parmar continued to work at Powell River General Hospital until February 10, 2011, although he had not been performing CT scan or obstetrical ultrasound readings since October 8, 2010.
