Powell River is one of the communities BC’s government has singled out for a training program to assist unemployed residents who are non-Employment Insurance clients.

The province is seeking proposals to provide $4.3 million in additional funding for Job Options BC, a training program that will help people find and keep employment in small, rural communities.

The program includes four to six weeks of group activities, including assessment, life skills, job-finding clubs and employability skills.

Venue change

A meeting with the BC Ferry Commissioner is now going to be held at Evergreen Theatre, Powell River Recreation Complex, instead of the Town Centre Hotel.

The meeting, which will give the public an opportunity to express views on the Coastal Ferry Act, will start at the same time, 8 pm, and day, Thursday, September 8.
