Rain makes for slippery conditions

Driver okay after flipping car

Wet road conditions are being blamed for a car accident on Highway 101.

Powell River RCMP responded to a report that a car had left the highway near Rifle Range Road at approximately 1 pm on Thursday, January 30. Officers found the flipped-over car in the ditch.

“The investigation revealed that the 2004 Buick Century had hydroplaned causing the driver to lose control,” said sergeant Rod Wiebe of the Powell River detachment.

The driver, a 69-year-old female from Powell River, was the only occupant and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
