Waste-recovery centre
Powell River Regional District committee of the whole unanimously passed a motion on the future of a resource-recovery centre that would cut down the amount of garbage the region tips. The committee of the whole recommended a motion to the regional board to reduce the original Strategic Priorities Fund grant application request down to $6 million, keep the project’s original scope unchanged and have the remaining balance of $2.82 million be paid by the regional district. The motion also allocated $30,000 in the budget to conduct a borrowing referendum.
Staff additions
A discussion on organizational restructuring within Community Services and creation and hiring of an assistant manager was postponed to the next committee of the whole meeting.
