Reporter joins team and fulfills passion

Chris Bolster is a writer who grew up in Langley, BC, and has just moved to Powell River with his family after spending the last 11 years teaching in Asia.

Bolster got his start in journalism after convincing his university’s student newspaper editor to give him free concert tickets in exchange for show reviews and stories. He graduated from University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) with a bachelor of arts in history and a passion for writing.

Spending the last two years of university as the editor-in-chief at the UFV Cascade, he also served as the British Columbia Bureau Chief for Canadian University Press.

Bolster and his wife Claudia fell in love with Powell River three years ago, when they came to visit family living here, and decided this would be a great community to raise their son, Nicholas.

A bibliophile and a foodie, Bolster enjoys riding his bicycle farther than most people would think healthy.
