Sailings between Powell River and Vancouver Island cancelled

ADVERSE WEATHER: There will be no 5:15 pm sailing from the Westview ferry terminal on October 26 because of high wind conditions.

BC Ferries has announced that the afternoon sailing of the Salish Orca has been cancelled due to high winds and adverse weather conditions.

According to a travel advisory from BC Ferries, the 3:25 pm sailing from Little River (Comox) has been cancelled, along with the 5:15 pm sailing from the Westview terminal in Powell River.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us,” the travel advisory stated. “We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations. We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this cancellation.”

BC Ferries stated that its goal is to inform customers as early as possible of any changes to its scheduled sailings.
