Carbon neutral funding
School District 47 is one of 43 around the province that received almost $10,000 to help identify possible carbon neutral projects. Twenty-five school districts were granted funds to upgrade boilers, heat pumps or lighting.
Two years ago the district was given $225,000 to perform a mechanical boiler upgrade at Kelly Creek Community School.
According to secretary-treasurer Steve Hopkins, the province is working on a three-year funding cycle for all school districts to receive funding for carbon neutral projects during that time.
