BC Ferries has announced service adjustments to routes 7 (Saltery Bay-Earls Cove) and 3 (Langdale-Horseshoe Bay) due to expected crewing challenges.

“In an effort to provide reliable ferry service, service adjustments have been made between January 28 and February 28, 2022, “stated BC Ferries in a service notice. “Customers with affected bookings on sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale will have their bookings moved to the new departure time. Our team is working hard to process these schedule changes and is contacting customers chronologically as quickly as we are able.”

Contributing factors to the service interruptions are the COVID-19 “Omicron variant’s potential to impact employee wellness, regular cold and flu season, severe winter storms, vaccination policies that have reduced crew availability and the global shortage of professional mariners making it difficult to hire replacement staff,” stated BC Ferries in an email to Coast Reporter.

The adjustments also affect the Horseshoe Bay/Departure Bay route. Sailing schedules for the three routes have been adjusted as per this service notice.

Customers with affected bookings who would like to change or rebook are asked to call 1.888.223.3779 extension 0.
