At approximately 8:28 am on January 18, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a theft from a parked vehicle in the 4400 block of Manson Avenue.

At approximately 1:30 am, the owner of the vehicle heard the car alarm go off, looked out and saw that the driver’s side door of the vehicle was open. The owner went outside and heard what sounded like heavy breathing and thought a bear may be near the vehicle, then closed the door and went back inside the house.

When the vehicle was checked the next morning, it was determined that a key fob had been taken from inside the vehicle. A number of items including a backpack, fertilizer spreader, hatchet and saw were left inside the vehicle.
