A video surveillance policy was adopted by at the March 6 qathet Regional District (qRD) board meeting.
The intended use of video surveillance systems in accordance with the policy is to ensure the safety and protection of individuals and/or qRD property and assets, according to a staff report.
In accordance with the policy’s guidelines, any installation of a video surveillance system must be approved by qRD’s chief administrative officer and a privacy impact assessment must be completed by the department manager responsible for the operation of the system.
