It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Graham Ross Hollingsworth – loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend – surrounded by the love of his family at Lions Gate Hospital on June 12, 2025.
Graham is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife Trisha, daughter Amanda (Justin) and son Ross (Joanna), along with his grandchildren Ryder, Oliver, Ava and Cam, his blended family members Sarah, Ashley (Derek) and family, Chelsea, Spencer and Austin. In addition, he is survived by his dear mother Betty (predeceased by his father Harry), his siblings Dave (Heather) and Anne (predeceased by his brother-in-law Paul Howey), and his children’s mother, Celine Beaudoin.
Uncle Graham will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews in Australia and Canada: Mike, Kerri, Sandra, Andrea, Jason, Jacqui and Elliot. He will also be missed by extended family and many close friends.
Graham grew up in Westview playing a variety of sports, including soccer and hockey. He spent a memorable grade six year in Hawaii and enjoyed summers out at Frolander Bay, fishing on the waters with Grandpa and loving Grandma’s baking. He attended Max Cameron High School, travelled to England for soccer and later spent two years with good friends in Australia – working and playing the game he loved, before returning to Powell River to work full time at the paper mill and to raise a family.
An original member of the Powell River Villa soccer team, Graham was recognized for his remarkable soccer talents, scoring an impressive 50 goals in 23 games during the team’s inaugural season, including eight goals in one match against Saanich. There were many fun road trips with teammates over the years.
In the 2000s, Graham moved out south near the ocean, increased his yard work and took up the game of golf, enjoying many games with friends and family. After retirement in 2014 and a return trip to Australia, Graham’s life was filled with looking after his home and property, visiting his family on Vancouver Island, walking his best buddy Jaxx, and capturing photos of the backyard wildlife on his iPad.
He was successfully working on lowering his golf handicap while being a caddy-coach for Trish. His goal was to get that hole-in-one in the summer of 2025 at his favourite golf course, Myrtle Point.
The family will cherish their times together, filled with Graham’s humorous stories, quick wit and his phrase, “let me know how that goes for you” when asked to try something new. He was always happy to offer support and encouragement from afar to anyone accomplishing a new venture.
Thank you so much to all who have reached out. Graham would be grateful to know that his family has been surrounded with kindness through this journey.
Graham loved animals and supported any effort of family to help youngsters achieve their dreams. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA or to any local youth initiative will be appreciated.
A celebration of Graham’s life will be held at a later date.
His life was filled with love, laughter and many awesome memories. He will be remembered with smiles and gratitude - forever in our hearts.
Love you, Graham – bro, Dad and Grandpa and friend.
