Born September 6, 1935, called to Jesus November 13, 2023.

The second daughter of Hazel and Lee Mattice, Rita was born in Ponoka, Alberta, and attended high school in Maple Ridge, BC.
Rita married her first love, Bob DePape, of Hornby Island, BC, and eventually settled in Powell River/qathet, where they raised nine children and enjoyed 53 years of marital happiness. After Bob’s passing in 2008, Rita was lucky to find love again with her marriage to Lionel Desilets, which gave her joy and happiness until his passing in 2022.
Rita is survived by her children Natasha, Mark, Ron, Kevin, Ted, Janice, Gene, Gary and Joe, as well as her numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was warmly accepted into the Desilets family, and will be dearly missed by much extended family as well.
She loved being everybody’s grandma!
Rita had numerous friends, some of whom cared for her until her passing. Maureen Foster and Corlia Purdue, your love for her and your support will never be forgotten. She spent her last months living with her son Kevin, who gave her constant care and companionship.
Rita was deeply devoted to her Roman Catholic religion and was a wonderful example of pure and unwavering faith in God, Jesus Christ and Mother Mary. She had a special way to see the good in all she met.
Heaven has gained a special angel. May God bless and welcome her beautiful soul.
