Alberni edges Powell River Kings in first of two weekend games

Powell River Kings erased a one-goal, second-period deficit but ultimately fell 3-2 at home to BC Hockey League Coastal Conference (BCHL) rival Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Friday, January 12.

Simone Dadiè and Alex Sandhu scored for the Kings, who trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes and 2-1 heading into the third period, when Anthony Yu set up Sandu's third goal of the season at the 6:01 mark to briefly tie the game 2-2. Bulldogs notched the winner just over three minutes later. Yu had a two-point night, also combining with Alex Bosland to assist on Dadiè's power play goal late in the second period.

Owen Crudale made 34 saves for the Kings, who were outshot 37-18. Attendance was 933.

The two teams meet again tonight (January 13) at Hap Parker Arena. Game time is 7 pm.
