In a media release on Thursday, February 27, BC Hockey League announced its all-star team selections for the 2018/2019 season.
Powell River Kings forward Ryan Brushett was named a first-team all star, selected alongside forwards Alex Newhook of the Victoria Grizzlies and Kevin Wall of defending national champion Chilliwack Chiefs.
Brushett led the league with 41 goals and finished second in points (84) behind Newhook, who finished with 102.
In addition to league recognition for his play this season, Brushett received three awards at the Kings’ annual awards banquet on Tuesday, February 26. Team trophies for top scorer, most valuable player and most game star selections were presented to the native of Verdun, Quebec. The 20 year old has committed to University of Nebraska-Omaha for the 2019/2020 season.
Carter Berger of the Grizzlies joined James Miller of the Penticton Vees as BCHL first-team all stars on defence. Vees goaltender Jack LaFontaine was also named to the first all-star team.
