Competitions keep dancers performing

Dancers in the community have been busy with a season full of competition.

Students of Sheridan Dance Academy received many medals as both individuals and groups of the competitive team representing Powell River.

Competitive team: Eden Head, Abby Head, Nicole Shigeoka, Hailey Shigeoka, Robin Thomas, Julia Marquis, Sydney Ford, Chloe Head, Lauren McKenzie, Taryn Gutter-Spence, Madison Gunther, Rylyn Behan, Avari Dodd, Jaydin Lentz, Joliena Williams, Ella Runions, Hayden Mallery and Lily Rankin.

At the Shine Dance Festival, Mission, BC, April 22 to 26 solos were performed by: Madison Gunther, silver and silver; Avari Dodd, gold and silver; Abby  Head, gold and silver; Eden Head, gold and silver; Robin Thomas, silver; Ella Runions, silver; Chloe Head, bronze; Stephanie Pearse, bronze and bronze.

Groups taking part in the Shine Dance Festival included: Shake it Out, silver; Little Boxes, silver; Dueling Banjos, silver; Hot Stuff, gold; Stepsister Lament, silver; Bollywood, silver; Respect, silver; Read All About it, gold; Sisters, bronze.

At the Star Talent Dance competition in Maple Ridge, BC, solos were performed by: Madison Gunther, high gold and high gold; Avari Dodd, high gold and gold; Abby Head, platinum and platinum; Eden Head, high gold and platinum; Robin Thomas, platinum; Ella Runions, gold; Chloe Head, gold.
