Vancouver Island will once again host a Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada qualifying tournament as Crown Isle Resort and Golf Club in Courtenay has been named one of seven qualifying tournament sites for the 2022 season.
Crown Isle will be the final qualifying tournament among the seven events and is slated for April 26-29.
Other tournament sites include The Club at Weston Hills in Weston, Florida (Feb. 15-18), Mission Inn Resort at Howey in the Hills, Florida (March 8-11), Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona (March 29- April 1), Soboba Springs Golf Club in San Jacinto, California (April 5-8) and The Home Course in DuPont, Washington (April 19-22).
“We will be following the sun early in the year then make our way to the warm West Coast of Canada for the final qualifier — at Crown Isle — in advance of the start of our regular season schedule,” Scott Pritchard, executive director for the Mackenzie Tour, said in a statement.
“What I like about this schedule is the variety of the courses where we will be holding tournaments and the unique challenges they will present to the players.”
The Mackenzie Tour–PGA Tour Canada will announce its complete regular season schedule in early 2022 with the Reliance Properties DCBank Victoria Open presented by the Times Colonist expected to be held in early June at Uplands Golf Club.
Players who qualify for PGA Tour Canada and then finish in the top five on the points list earn Korn Ferry Tour status for the following year. The top finishers on the Korn Ferry Tour then earn status on the PGA Tour.
