An upcoming farewell visit will combine fundraising for kidney cancer research with a Powell River Kings game.

On Saturday, February 28, fans attending the Kings game will receive more than just hockey entertainment. Sully (Ryan Sullivan) and Force (Adam Forsythe) will be donning their green spandex suits and appearing as the Green Men for one stop on their farewell tour.

“We’re taking our shtick to hockey arenas around the province and it’s going to be a blast,” said Forsythe, the taller of the two men. “We’ll be raising roofs and raising funds for kidney cancer research at the Canadian Cancer Society.”

Raising funds for the charity hits a personal note for Sullivan. “The reason that we’re doing kidney cancer is because that’s what I lost my grandfather to almost a decade ago,” he said.

Donations will be sought through autograph signing and photo sessions.

For five years, the duo has been wearing the green suits to hockey games. They have been highlighted in the media and in 2012 were inducted into the ESPN Hall of Fans.

“After five years of pulling outrageous stunts in those stretchy outfits, we decided it was finally time to send [them] to the cleaners,” said Sullivan. “BC hockey fans built this. It’s only fitting we get to end it together.”

Pacific Coastal Airlines is supporting the duo’s final tour which has stops at 10 arenas. Sully and Force will be at Hap Parker Arena for the 5 pm game against Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
