It was their first time at provincials for the Douglas sisters and Rebecca was the youngest competitor at the championship. Their father, Dave, was on hand as team coach. “The team played really well all week,” he said. “They came together in early September, won the Abbotsford Junior Cash Spiel in early October and placed fourth in the Langley Ladies’ Competitive bonspiel in late October.”

The team is made up of five players with Skip Shawna Jensen, third Katherine Silversides and fifth Sarah McCrady. Team Jensen just missing out on third place at the championships. The team finished with a 4-3 record over the seven-day event.

“It was an incredible learning experience” said Michaela, “and calibre of the competition was very high. Having success at this level was a highlight of my curling experiences.”

“It was a lot of fun and it was amazing being there playing against the best junior curlers in BC,” added Rebecca.
