Powell River Kings and Nanaimo Clippers combined for three late first-period goals in game two of their BC Hockey League Island Division semi-final series in Powell River on Saturday, March 2, then held each other scoreless over the next 40 minutes.

Ethan Scardina opened the scoring for Nanaimo at 17:05, only to be answered 32 seconds later by an unassisted tally from Powell River forward Rowan Miller. With four seconds remaining in the first period, Scardina capitalized on a powerplay opportunity for his second goal of the game, handing the Clippers a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish.

Despite outshooting Nanaimo 35-25, Powell River was unable to tie the game, coming close on several occasions where shots glanced off the post behind Clippers goaltender Jordan Naylor. Mitch Adamyk made 23 saves for the Kings in the first 59 minutes of the game, then watched from the bench for the final 60 seconds as his teammates tried for the equalizer with an extra attacker.
