Team knocks off top seed
Pee Wee Kings in island final

Powell River Tim Hortons Pee Wee Kings extended their playoff season with an impressive elimination game victory in Cowichan over the weekend.

The young Kings took to the road to take on south Vancouver Island’s top-seed Capitals. While the intense game remained deadlocked after two periods, the green and gold moved forward on the third and earned a convincing 7-3 victory. With the win the Kings head into the Island Championship in a best-of-three series starting this weekend against their rival Tyees from Campbell River.

According to team staff, this group of 11- and 12-year-old players has worked extremely hard all season. The players’ level of play has impressed many; a solid team game coupled with individual efforts and commitment to improve has made it very difficult on their opponents all season. “As a coaching staff, we have a great bunch of boys that are eager to learn, work hard and have fun,” said Scott Mastrodonato. “Our goal as a team was to be in position to challenge for a playoff banner and possibly earn a trip to provincials. They have been rewarded for their efforts and it’s a very exciting time for this group as we head into the finals.”
