Horseshoes are flying again for the start of another pitching season. Powell River Horseshoe Pitching Club held its first tournament at the beginning of the month with 31 pitchers participating.
This was a mixed open event and two pitchers from Ladysmith, four from Port Alberni and two from Winfield joined the local club players.
The day ended with presentations to the top pitchers in each class:
Class A: First Carol Skrodolis (Powell River), second Doris Wilton (Winfield) and third Kathie Juteau (Ladysmith).
Class B: First Jim Hoffman and second Bob Simmons both of Powell River.
Class C: First Betty Blacklock and second Leonard MacLean both of Powell River.
Class D: First Serge Dube, second Sandra MacLean and third Ed Skrodolis all from Powell River.
Class E: First Sandra Hanson, second Norm Siren and third Frank Hubick all from Powell River.
Class F: First Diane Norman, second Paul Fridman and third Stuart Ashworth all from Powell River.
